Linhart, Robert

Robert Linhart, born in 1944, is a French sociologist and writer. As a former member of the Union of Communist Students (1964), he led the "Ulmards" circle, marked by the tutelary figure of Louis Althusser. Robert Linhart joined the “Gauche prolétarienne,” founded at the end of the year by Benny Lévy. As part of the “établis” movement, he joined the Citroën factory at the Porte de Choisy in Paris as a specialised worker. From this experience, he wrote his most famous book, “L'Établi” (“The workbench”), a sociological novel published in 1978 by Éditions de Minuit.
